How to Chose a Disney Resort

Planning your Disney trip is no simple task. By no means does it have to be planned down to the minute but there are so many things in the wide world of Disney that do need some planning. We think about the time of year we want to visit, what we are going to wear and what park we are going to visit but one of the most important steps is finding where we want to lay our heads down at night. When you go to Disney you plan on falling asleep and waking up to all things magical so picking the best resort for your family is very important. I always ask three questions when picking out my resort.

How much money are you ready to spend? There are three different tiers of Walt Disney World resorts. Value, Moderate and Deluxe. Value Resorts will give you the most bang for your buck, but also have less amenities. Moderate resorts are better for families larger than four. Deluxe resorts have the most amenities and much larger rooms but also cost the most. I have noticed that the more expensive a resort gets the less Disney it feels. In my opinion more expensive doesn't always mean better.

Which park would you like to be closest to? Many resorts are in walking distance from other parks or amenities. When you are looking at the location of your resort pay attention to the different choices of transportation. You will either be offered bussing, The Skyliner, a boat, or the Monorail. For the most part you will have at least one of these forms of transportation. If you are planning on taking a break during your park day or park-hopping I highly recommend choosing a resort that is closest to your favorite park.

What type of ambience are you looking for in your resort? All of the resorts are completely different. Once you step foot onto a new resort you have new smells, new views, and new themes. You could be on the African savannah or you could be under the sea with Ariel. The value resorts have the most big and bold theming I have ever seen. It is very much in your face so much you can't escape it. If you want theming, but not so much in your face, take a look at the moderate resorts. Though they are toned back they still have incredible touches of Disney throughout the rooms and pool areas. Deluxe resorts are very light on Disney character theming but very magical in their own way.

The best part is you never have to stay at the same place twice. Every Disney trip I stay somewhere new and honestly no matter where you are in the Disney Bubble, You'll always feel like you're at home.
